Inspired by the colors of the Japanese flag and Sumi-E painting and brush strokes.
This painting takes Jamie Starr's usual use of geometric shapes while offering and infusion of eastern art techniques.
Tic Tac Blue
Painted during the same session as Asian Anarchy, Tic Tac Blue works as an opposite to the black and red found in Asian Anarchy. The Geometric use of the + and O signs clashes against an aggressive overlay of blue acrylics.
City
A personal favorite of Jamie Starr's, The objective was to re-introduce white into an abstract war of colors to give it more shape and form. The white acts where a traditional black outline would, offering brightness on top, rather than its usual place as negative space.
House On Fire
Similar to Asian Anarchy, House on Fire is a minimalist take on a burning building, infused with eastern influences.
